Brief Introduction
I. Working Principle Activated carbon adsorption occurs when a balanced surface concentration forms on its granular surface. Particle size significantly influences adsorption capacity - smaller particles provide greater surface area, with powdered activated carbon offering optimal adsorption but being rarely used due to its tendency to flow with water. Granular activated carbon is preferred for its stable structure, high adsorption capacity, and ease of replacement. Adsorption efficiency correlates directly with water contact time. Longer contact yields better water quality, requiring slow filtration. New activated carbon must be rinsed before initial use to prevent black water discharge. A 2-3cm sponge layer at the filter's top and bottom prevents algae penetration. Carbon requires replacement every 2-3 months when efficiency declines, with periodic sponge replacement. The pressure vessel contains quartz sand bedding and premium activated carbon. While initial adsorption is highly effective, capacity gradually diminishes over time. Turbid water with high organic content rapidly exhausts the carbon's functionality, necessitating regular cleaning or replacement. This system effectively removes: Discoloration and odors Heavy metals (Hg, Pb, Cd, Zn, Fe, Mn, Cr) Radioactive substances (Sr, Ra) Harmful compounds (As, cyanides, sulfides, residual chlorine) Pathogens (bacteria, E. coli, carcinogens) Ideal for potable water and industrial applications (food/beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals), the filter features simple structure and easy maintenance. II. Technical Features 1. Continuous operation: 24/7 functionality without backwash interruptions 2. Low operational costs: Eliminates need for high-pressure backwash pumps 3. Minimal maintenance: Only quartz sand requires replacement; no moving parts ensure low failure rates 4. Cost-effective installation: No separate coagulation/clarification tanks or backwash pump systems needed 5. Reduced head loss: ≤0.5m total head loss through timely cleaning and single-media design 6. Broad influent tolerance: Handles 150mg/L SS continuously, with 300mg/L SS shock load capacity 7. Stable effluent quality: Consistent high-quality output without periodic fluctuations 8. Compact footprint: 70-80% space savings versus conventional three-stage systems, with streamlined aesthetics |
